Atul Deosthali

Atul has been practicing yoga for more than 40 years, beginning his journey in Mumbai, India. He completed his first Yoga Teacher Training in 1986 at Yoga Vidhya Niketan, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to both study and teaching. Over the years, his teaching path has taken him across the United States—from Oklahoma State University to Club Fit in Yorktown Heights, New York, where he worked with young adult swim teams, and later to Siemens Healthcare in Tarrytown, New York, sharing yoga with his colleagues.

During the Covid era, Atul earned his 200‑hour Yoga Alliance certification, and for the past three years he has been teaching at the Indian Valley YMCA in Harleysville. Never one to stop learning, he is currently enrolled in an additional 300‑hour Teacher Training program and continues to deepen his practice through weekend Iyengar Yoga classes with a teacher in India.

Atul’s teaching style blends breathwork (Pranayama), Vinyasa flow through Sun Salutations, and the precision of Iyengar alignment principles. He incorporates props to support beginners and always closes his classes with a calming, restorative savasana. In addition to his traditional classes, he teaches Yin Yoga and Chakra‑based Energy Balancing Yoga, integrating postures, breath, and mantra chanting to harmonize the subtle body.

Outside the studio, Atul has been married to his wife, Vandana, for 38 years. They have two married children and a beloved granddaughter who brings him endless joy. Since retiring from the corporate world last year, he has embraced life as a part‑time yoga instructor. His interests include reading, gardening, traveling, watching cricket, spending time outdoors, and—above all—continuing to explore the vast world of yoga.
